Nija is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker and has been a practicing social worker for 11 years. Her educational training took place at New York City College of Technology and Adelphi University where she completed both a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and her Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Clinical Practice. She went forward to obtaining a Post Masters in Parent Education & Parent Guidance. Nija has several years of extensive experience working with diverse populations of all ages diagnosed with mental health disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental disabilities in various social service and healthcare capacities. She is equipped with a comprehensive background in conducting bio-psychosocial assessments as well as providing direct services, intervention, support, and counseling. In her current role, she applies her social work skills to consult with caseworkers, supervisors, and other involved team members on complex cases involving vulnerable adults who have been susceptible to any form of abuse, financial exploitation, self-neglect, neglect by others, mental health concerns and hoarding.
Area of focus: Nija strongly believes that providing therapy is not about offering services, it is all about developing solutions for clients to cope and move forward in their personal and professional lives. In her social work professional career, she helped clients break through obstacles that seem to be holding them back in life. She believes that all individuals and families have tremendous strengths to help them navigate through their challenging situations.
Treatment Approach: Nija’s clinical approach is based on utilizing a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including the Strengths-Based Approach; Person-Centered Approach; and Solution Focused Approach. Also, Nija has utilized Crisis Intervention; Applied Behavioral Analysis Approach; Psychoeducation; Psychosocial Model, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
